Myth #1:  Being hypnotized means a loss of control.

Hypnosis does not mean you will automatically start clucking like a chicken. You will not do anything you don’t want to do while you are hypnotized. You will only be hypnotized if you want to be hypnotized. Most people find that they have even better control and focus after hypnosis. 

Myth #2:  I will tell all my secrets while I’m hypnotized.

You will not automatically share secrets. You will only share what is relevant to the process of reaching your desired goals. My office is a non-judgmental safe zone.

Myth #3:  Once I’m hypnotized, I may not come out.

Simply untrue. You cannot get stuck in hypnosis. We all enter into and out of hypnotic states several times a day – just after waking up, just before going to sleep, “road hypnosis” while driving on a familiar route, or watching a movie. You can choose to bring yourself out of hypnosis anytime if necessary.

Myth #4: I don’t think I can be hypnotized.

Some people may believe that they are “too strong willed to be put under.” They may say “I don’t think I can be put under.” This is a misunderstanding. It’s not a war of the wills or a matter of being strong willed or strong minded or not. The majority of people can be hypnotized — only a small percentage of people cannot. A trained hypnotist can guide the client into a state of relaxation where both the body and mind become relaxed and the brain waves move from faster beta waves to slower alpha waves.
